Tradition and Quality...

My grandmother taught me to quilt when I was fourteen years old, and I have been hand-piecing and hand-quilting my own quilts ever since.

I find that hand-quilting is the perfect complement to my love of history; every time I sit down with my hoop and thimble I feel so intimately connected to all the women who did the same in the hundreds of years before me.

I look forward to making your quilts, old and new, part of this wonderful tradition.

Why hand quilting?

There are many different types of quilts.

On one hand are quilt-in-a-day baby quilts that will be spit up on and dragged across floors and yards and more or less require the unquestioning durability of allover machine stippling.

On the other hand are the beautiful, fascinating heirloom quilts that were expertly pieced by your grandmother and passed down through the years lovingly folded into a cedar chest.

It is these types of quilts that deserve the warm, careful tradition of hand-quilting: the quilts that will be loved, treasured, and passed down through the generations. Whether it’s respect for the history and warmth of an antique top too fragile for a machine, or whether it’s for a graduation quilt for your grandchild filled with love and memories of home – or anything in the realms in between – hand-quilting is the perfect finish for your perfect quilt.
